Some horror films seem formulaic, and now you get an idea why.
Cabin In The Woods
Why I Saw It: While I’m really not a fan of horror movies, I heard from multiple reviewers that this movie was somehow special, and I wanted to see why some people were saying it was one of the best films of the year.
What Was It About? A group of college kids go on a weekend’s vacation, and a group of people are looking to ensure it’s as deadly as possible.
Rating: 8.0 out of 10
Memorable Performances: The involvement of Bradley Whitford was certainly very memorable. This was the first movie I’ve seen from Jesse Williams, who’s fairly entertaining on Grey’s Anatomy, so I’m fairly certain to remember this for a while.
Potential Nominations for Film Quest ’12:
- None
Favorite Parts: The twist turns out to be very entertaining, and the big showdown near the end is a wild ride.
The Regrettable Aspects: The fact that I’m not a huge fan of horror movies makes the genre somewhat regrettable. I’d much prefer a less graphic version of this film, but it was still good nevertheless.
Would I watch it again? I would consider it, but it’s not my type of movie, so I won’t be seeking it out.
To Whom Would I Recommend It? To EVERYONE who likes horror movies, or who likes movies with interesting twists.
Next up, Sky Captain And The World Of Tomorrow.
Really glad you liked this. It definitely makes my top 10 of 2012.
