Pack film in a place where you won’t lose it, especially if you’re going on a crazy adventure.
Sky Captain And The World Of Tomorrow
Why I Saw It: With Angelina Jolie in the cast and an interesting style to the film, I’d been looking forward to seeing this movie when it first came out back in 2004, but with mediocre reviews, I decided to set this one on the back burner. Trying to hit 100 films for the year and the clock ticking down, I found this one on Netflix Instant and gave it a watch.
What Was It About? A great fighter pilot and his one-time fiance embark on an adventure to stop a man who threatens to destroy most of the Earth’s population.
Rating: 6.8 out of 10
Memorable Performances: There really weren’t any.
Potential Nominations for Film Quest ’12:
Favorite Parts: The dog fight aerial battles were pretty cool. Late in the movie where you find out exactly what’s going on, when the rocket is being loaded, the visuals from that point on are really good.
The Regrettable Aspects: The fact that Angelina Jolie was only in the movie for about three minutes was a disappointment.
Would I watch it again? I probably wouldn’t, and if anyone asked me to watch it with them, I’d probably try to talk them out of it in the hopes of watching something more entertaining.
To Whom Would I Recommend It? To people who enjoy interesting cinematography, or like movies with good action sequences involving planes.
Next up, Dogtooth.
