March is the time for tournament brackets, right? So why not have one pertaining to movie characters?
While there have been a lot of great characters over the past 100 years of movies, I’m not extending the scope that far. In fact, I took movies from the past 4 years, limited it to the films I’ve seen, and I picked my favorite characters (you might’ve seen the four articles here).
I then tried to give them seeds based on how popular I think they’re going to be amongst the voters, partially based on the strength of the character, the amount of time they were in the movie, and the popularity of the movie.
Just like the NCAA tournament, we’ve got 4 “regions” of match-ups. You get to vote in each of the match-ups, picking your favorites, and from there I’ll take the winners and advance them to Round 2.
Don’t worry about what the region is called, I just picked something based on the top character(s) in that region.
This is my first time trying it, so let’s see how it goes with the first two regions:
Stark Industries Region
1 – Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) in Iron Man 2
16 – Trollhunter (Otto Jespersen) in Trollhunter
8 – Danny (Chris Tucker) in Silver Linings Playbook
9 – Sydney Fife (Jason Segel) in I Love You Man
5 – Megan (Melissa McCarthy) in Bridesmaids
12 – Bernie Tiede (Jack Black) in Bernie
4 – Hit Girl (Chloe Grace Moretz) in Kick-Ass
13 – Alex (Chris O’Dowd) in Friends With Kids
3 – Magneto (Michael Fassbender) in X-Men: First Class
