Prepare yourself for the weirdest family you’ve ever seen.
Dogtooth
Why I Saw It: The reviewers who contribute to GuysNation who had seen it were giving it some decent reviews, and because it was in the top 10 at the time, I felt obligated to see it and form my perspective on it.
What Was It About? A family whose children are soo sheltered from the world that they’ve never been outside of their yard, and they don’t know what airplanes or cats are.
Rating: 2.2 out of 10
Memorable Performances: I hope to forget all about this weird family.
Potential Nominations for Film Quest ’12:
- None
Favorite Parts: The part where they fought over the toy plane and where one sister asked to lick her other sister’s shoulder were both somewhat humorous, but that’s as far as I can get to saying I enjoyed any of it.
The Regrettable Aspects: The fact that they didn’t make this film even remotely endearing. It was just weird, straight up weird. I’ve never seen sex scenes this awkward before, not even when Ellen Page is practically raping Rainn Wilson while they wear superhero outfits.
Would I watch it again? It took me three different viewing opportunities to finish the film.
To Whom Would I Recommend It? To people who like really weird movies with super-awkward sex scenes.
THIS ENDS THE FILM QUEST ’12. Next up, the quest-end awards.
