If that’s where James Bond is from, you can understand why he loves his cars.
Skyfall
Why I Saw It: I’m a fan of the recent Bond films with Daniel Craig, and I had heard some great reviews of this film.
Memorable Performances: Daniel Craig did a great job with this one, showing plenty of flaws with Bond and giving him more depth. Ralph Fiennes did plenty with his role, despite how small it was. I really liked Ben Whishaw as the new Q. By far, Javier Bardem is my favorite Bond Villain, and he did an incredible job with that.
The Regrettable Aspects: Nothing that I can think of right off hand which wouldn’t involve spoilers.
Would I watch it again? I’ll watch it again when it hits DVD. There’s so much in the theater that I’d like to see, so I’d probably not watch it again until then.
To Whom Would I Recommend It? Anyone who enjoys a decent action film, or likes the Bond character in the slightest – even if they didn’t like the first two Daniel Craig Bond films (Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace).
Rating: 8.7 out of 10
Potential Nominations for Film Quest ’12:
- Best Actor – Daniel Craig
- Best Supporting Actor – Javier Bardem
- Best Supporting Actor – Ralph Fiennes
Next up, THE PUFFY CHAIR…. unless you want to read more of my thoughts on Skyfall, but that would involve some spoilers…
Once again, Craig owns it as Bond but he isn’t the star of the show here. In fact, Javier Bardem knocks it out of the park as the creepy, but dangerous villain that steals just about every scene he’s in and kept me involved with the flick a whole lot more than I expected. Nice review.
Thanks Dan, I appreciate the comment and I agree with your perspective. Did you see the second page of the review (https://guysfilmquest.wordpress.com/2012/12/29/review-75-skyfall/2/)? I’m thinking of doing that more often so I can do spoilers without feeling bad about ruining things for people who haven’t seen it. Interested to hear what you think of that approach.
